Feedback from the Presence and Power workshop with Louise Wilson on 5th April

This was PCT Scotland’s second workshop of our 2025 series, and sixteen of us gathered to spend some time listening to and discussing Louise’s ideas about the relationship between presence and power. It was an excellent and thought-provoking day. There was a lot of verbal feedback at the time but here are some afterthoughts:

Fiona
I had a wonderful day. It was great for me to be emersed in the person-centred approach once more. Was good to get away from all the ' 'noise', and to just be. Enjoyed listening to not only the trainers but the great bunch of participants with so much to experience to share. I'll definitely be attending more.

Mairi
I really enjoyed the workshop and I thought Louise set it out very well which allowed a lot of sharing and reflection on 'presence' and power. It was a very welcome process.

Gavin
I really enjoyed my day on Saturday.

It was good to learn from each other and to have that length of discussion in groups was very helpful given that the topic was so rich and generated a lot of discussion.

It was great. I got a lot from it - some of it not until later! And I'm still reflecting on it.

The material was engaging, and it felt like the group held itself well - with power points coming from all round the circle!

Makes me want a follow-up session, to explore things that came up, and peoples' later reflections - on both presence and power?

The workshop was really welcomed by me, reminding me of the importance of sitting in a group with others to share thoughts and experiences on subjects such as this in all their complexity and subtlety. Other members insights never fail to help me locate within myself, and articulate my own experiences, while also bringing to the table new perspectives and thoughts. The workshop was carefully constructed providing a well considered framework for rich discussion.

Barry
I enjoyed that the session offered a helpful space for considering the various theoretical views of presence.    Louise facilitated the course exquisitely and was clearly able to recall views from various contributors/writers really naturally.  It also feels really important to have these events for self development and I consider the cost of £50 for a whole day’s CPD to be great value.
