Research study investigating the use of questions in person-centred and person-centred experiential (PCE) counselling and psychotherapy
Hello. My name is James and I’m looking for co-researchers (person-centred supervisors) to take part in a qualitative research study. The study is to investigate the impact asking a client questions has in person-centred or person-centred experiential (PCE) counselling and psychotherapy including therapist directivity, power and perceived expertness. I hope that together we will come to a better understanding of this phenomenon, and that I can learn from your views and experiences. Some of the benefits for taking part include:
- The opportunity to contribute to research which may ultimately benefit clients
- You may find it rewarding to talk about your views and experiences
- There is a possibility that you could be acknowledged as a co-author of the research, if it is published
- You will have access to the findings which may inform your practice
A bit about me
I’m a final year part-time MA student at the University of Nottingham studying the Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice course. This research will form my dissertation to be submitted. I’m 43 years old and live in Birmingham. Some of my hobbies include reading, going to the theatre and cinema, walking and jogging in nature and playing my guitar and singing. I was drawn to the person-centred approach because of my own experiences as a client, and also because of its radical and subversive nature.
If you’re interested in finding out more or taking part?
