Conversations with survivors of childhood sexual abuse – How do we meet? The Person-Centred Approach In Action

The Spark, 100 Wellington Street, Glasgow G2 6DH | Wheelchair accessible

Sexual abuse is cemented in place by silence; this operates on many levels throughout society. Sexual abuse and childhood sexual abuse are seldom found on curriculums in universities or colleges further education. The silence prevails and then in practise becomes fear and mystique for those who may find themselves needing to respond.

In this workshop we get the opportunity to give space and name what happens, to explore the impact on survivors; to describe how we individually facilitate that meeting, trust the client and ‘The Space Between Us’ and offer genuine contact and relational depth.

Sue Hampson has been practising as a counsellor, supervisor and trainer for the last 30 years. She is the director of Safe to Say concentrating on working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma. She's been involved in national training around childhood sexual abuse disclosure and in the making and producing of 4 talking heads documentary films on survivors of abuse.

She lives and practises in Fife.

This workshop is the third of PCT Scotland’s 2026 programme. As before each of the workshops will be a stand-alone event but the series as a whole is designed to develop, enhance and promote understanding of the Approach. Each of the presenters will be attending the workshops as facilitators of the group process. It is possible to attend any or all of the workshops.
