Anne Henderson - Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist

  • Edinburgh

I am based in the centre of North Berwick and I hope to offer you a warm welcome to my therapy room. There you will find a comfortable chair and a view of the beach. Sessions are one hour in length.

Everyone has differing needs and if face to face sessions do not suit you I also offer video and telephone sessions.

As a person-centred therapist I offer a non judgemental, confidential and safe environment where you can feel accepted. One of the first steps in achieving growth is to be able to be honest and open with yourself. My role in helping with that is to be warm, honest, compassionate, and facilitative.

Each individual approaches therapy in a different way and takes a different time. I will meet you with understanding and give you space and time to explore your options and support your change. I aim to work with each clients individual needs and I offer a variety of creative ways to explore these.

I offer a free initial session to discuss the reason you are coming to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It is a chance to work out if we will be comfortable working together and check that you can be offered the most appropriate support.

It is also an opportunity to discuss how we will work together and I will provide some written information.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have many years’ experience of working therapeutically with people in community health settings including work with families, adults, people with learning disabilities and teenagers. I work with people from 16 years up both as individuals or couples.

Specialising in Counselling, Supervision, Couples, Students, Young people, Relationships, Bereavement, Depression, Addiction, Trauma, Anxiety, Stress
And also I offer supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors.

Interests
I live close to the beach so I am lucky that walking and running with my collie dog is a daily joy for me. I really like to be out in nature be it the beach or the woods. I am also learning to be a silversmith. I attend classes in Edinburgh and also make jewellery from home. I love reading, cooking, baking and being with my friends. I try to do a yoga practice regularly and I enjoy exercise classes locally. I would like to travel more but time doesn't always allow for that at the moment.
