Ryan Dawes, Mphil, PGDip, MNCS Accred - Counsellor in Glasgow

  • Glasgow

Hello and welcome to my page. I did my counselling training at the University of Strathclyde.

In 2014 I spent five months living in three Buddhist monasteries/temples in South Korea, Myanmar, and Thailand. I have a meditation practice which strongly shapes how I work. In 2018 I was able to explore my interest in the process of complex trauma arising out of routine or prolonged and repeated abuse within a relationship(s) which led me to explore my own experience of routine abuse in childhood.

Person-centred/experiential counselling is

  • a confidential space that can offer safety when things are difficult or impossible to bear
  • a space to help explore new or unknown aspects of yourself.

I aim to provide or offer

  • an unconditional acceptance that is safe, warm and respectful of how you are and what you are
  • a climate conducive to being with your feelings, thoughts or what is important to you through following your lead and trying to understand things from your point of view.

I have worked with young people and adults suffering with anxiety, depression, trauma / complex trauma, dissociation, prolonged and repeated abuse within a relationship(s) / routine abuse, ritual abuse, self-harm, suicidal impulse / thoughts about suicide, relationship difficulties and people searching for meaning or change in their lives.

I can meet in Glasgow or online.
