Welcome. People come to counselling for many different reasons, and when working with you I aim to provide a caring, non-judgemental place for you to look at any areas of your life that are important, or are of concern to you. You are in control of what you talk about, and I will help you explore and get a different perspective on what may be troubling you.

Together we can work out your goals, and what you would like to achieve from counselling.

I strongly believe that the body and mind are linked, and that we often fail to use this vital connection in understanding our responses to events in our lives, so in our work together I pay attention to what the body is telling us as well as attending to what you say. This can be particularly useful at times when we may get overwhelmed by our emotional response to situations or events, which can leave us feeling unsafe and distressed or out of control. Feeling safe enough to explore what is going on for you is an important part of therapy, and this is an essential focus of my work with clients.

I have a background in bodywork, and my counselling experience includes youth work, sexual abuse, trauma, bereavement and GP practice, where a considerable part of my work is with depression and anxiety. Currently my time is divided between private practice, supervision (1:1 and group) and counselling training. I am a former tutor on the PG Diploma in Counselling and the PG Certificate in Counselling Skills at Strathclyde University.
