Alison Munro

  • Edinburgh

I chose to train as a person-centred counsellor because I have experienced it myself and, like many therapists, continue to work with my own counsellor in order to better understand myself. I have found it to be powerfully effective in allowing me to appreciate why I am the way I am, and to reflect on why I respond to other people in the way I do. Working with a person-centred counsellor has changed so much about how I live my life and it is my hope that you might find the same benefit.

I trained as a counsellor at the University of Strathclyde and I did my supervision training with Jenny Biancardi (Creative Supervision Certificate).

For both counselling and supervision work, I work online or face-to-face.
I use a small comfortable garden room at my home for face-to-face work

As well as being mum to four children (now all grown up), my background is in teaching. I taught English for several decades and my love of narrative and imagery have found an additional usefulness in the counselling role.

From 2019 I was part of the team delivering the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills at Edinburgh College. I have recently joined the delivery team at Flourish Counselling Training.
