Research request

Hello, my name is Karen Carachi and I am a trainee counselling psychologist, currently completing my doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. As part of the final stage of my training, I am conducting a study to understand the experiences of using person-centred therapy in forensic environments (e.g. NHS settings, prisons, private practice and voluntary sector organisations).

I am looking for qualified psychologists, counsellors or psychotherapists who have been practicing the above humanistic approach in forensic settings for at least one year. Participants would also need to be willing to share their experiences with me in an interview, which will last approximately sixty minutes. Interviews can be done in person or via Skype.

Anyone interested can email me on [email protected] and will have the chance to find out more about the study before coming to any decision. You would be under no obligation to take part.

My study is supervised by Tasim Martin Berg (C.Psychol. AFBPsS. HCPC Reg. Deputy Programme Leader & Lecturer) and she can be contacted on [email protected]. This study has been approved by the Psychology, Social Work and Allied Health Sciences Ethics Subcommittee of The School of Health and Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Thanks & kind regards,Karen

My name is Patricia McIntosh, I am currently studying for a Msc in Person-Centred Counselling at the University of Aberdeen. I am currently undertaking a study into Post-Traumatic Growth and I am looking for trainee or qualified counsellors to take part. I am looking for participants who have experienced Post-Traumatic Growth to describe their experiences and the affect the experiences have had on their work.

 My research question is;
What is the therapist’s experience of post-traumatic growth and how does it influence their work?

 Post-traumatic growth (PTG) is defined by Tedeschi and Calhoun (2004) as “the experience of positive change that occurs as a result of the struggle with highly challenging life crises.”

 The study involves an online survey which takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

 If this topic is of interest to you and you would like to take part, please follow the below link to the survey;

 If you have any questions about the study or would like a copy of the research when finished, please contact me;
