You may not be aware, but our PCE Europe certificates are already eleven years old. The idea was developed during our General Assembly at Cirencester in England in 2007 and after some preparational work the certificates were implemented during the General Assembly in 2008 in Norwich, England. It was also then that the Certificate Committee was created with its proud first committee members: Peter Schmid, Roelf Takens and Clair Higgon. Since then, many certificates were requested and subsequently issued, all of them also visible on our website. Additionally, as a European-wide organisation we have become aware that the same certificate in different countries may have a different “weight” or meaning.
Based on our understanding of the situation and also on the vivid discussion on certificates held during the General Assembly last June, we believe that it is now high time to have a deeper look into the whole PCE Europe certification process, such as:
- the certification criteria
- different types of certificates
- procedures involved
- structure and responsibilities of the certificate committee
- cooperation with membership organisations
- certificate payments and validity
- possible further training requirements and similar topics.
We would, therefore, like to invite you to participate in a new certificate committee with the main aim to check and revise the present certification process and create proposals of changes to be introduced in the future.
We believe that the members (delegates or local members) of this group should be experienced trainers, both from psychotherapy and counselling, representing different countries and different "tribes" of PCE. We know that our senior members are usually very busy but at the same time we hope that you will be ready to contribute your time, knowledge and experience to this important project.
Are you a trainer or do you have any English-speaking trainers in your local association? We need your support to start this very important project!
We would highly appreciate, if you could distribute this letter and invitation among your members.
