It may seem like a quirky or smart thing to say at times, 'there's no such thing as reality.' Often folks who say it don't get that this is a fact. Human beings construe ourselves, others and events differently. We act upon the world in order to make sense of experiences rather than react to them. We are simply meaning making creatures and our minds are meaning making machines.
Personal Construct Psychology is a philosophy rather than a theory. It helps us understand a bit more about what it is like to be human. This understanding on the day should help gain some personal insight and offer a range of techniques to aid personal and professional development.
Aims of the event
To explore how Human Beings go about making sense of the world.
To understand the uniqueness of perception.
To examine the wisdom that comes with 'Suspension' and it's value to a Counsellor/Psychotherapist.
To learn to react to the world rather than act upon it.
To identify with the fact that Human Beings are personal scientists, constantly testing theories but not always being successful scientists.
To experiment with techniques unique to Personal Construct Psychology.
