Advertising Charges – Notices and Events on the PCTS Website

All notices and events advertised on the Person-Centred Therapy Scotland website must be related to and consistent with the purposes and values of the association.

Advertisements or notices which do not promote income-generating activities may be posted free.

For an event or announcement posted on the website which relates to an income generating activity (e.g. training courses, encounter events, room rental etc.), there will generally be an advertising charge. This will apply to members and non-members alike.

The exceptions to this rule will be:

  1. Where participants are invited to contribute to actual out of pocket costs (e.g. for room hire or refreshments), and either (a) no surplus on these costs is retained by the organisers or (b) any surplus is used for bursaries that widen access to future events. If you are planning an event and require advice on whether it falls into this category, you should consult the Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or the Treasurer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
  2. Where, in the opinion of the Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or the Treasurer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), the event directly contributes to the purposes of Person-Centred Therapy Scotland and the fee can be waived. This must be arranged before the notice or advertisement is posted.

The charge for placing an advertisement or notice is reviewed from time to time by the Coordinating Group. It is presently £25. If a person or organisation places four chargeable notices in any financial year (1st April to 31st March) and has paid all outstanding invoices within 30 days of issue, they will not be charged for any further notices or advertisements that they post in that financial year.

When a chargeable notice is posted on the website, the person or organisation posting the notice must inform the treasurer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and should give the name and contact details of the person to whom an invoice can be sent.

If the treasurer does not have enough information to be able to invoice for a chargeable notice, the notice will be removed.

Notice and Advertisement Checklist:

  1. Is your event or service free to participants?
  2. If your event or service is not free, are you asking participants to contribute only your bare, identifiable, out-of-pocket expenses?
  3. Has either the Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or the Treasurer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) of PCTS agreed that, because of the nature of your event, you do not have to pay to advertise it on the PCTS website?

‘Yes’ to any of these means that you do not have to pay to place your advertisement or notice.
