The access fund is available to enable all members to be active participants of PCT Scotland.
This fund may be particularly helpful for people with limited finances and those with added expenses, for example for people with disabilities, people with childcare costs, people in more distant locations etc.
Members from whatever distance are encouraged to apply for travel costs so that they can attend PCT Scotland events including business meetings, AGM’s, study days and workshops.
Some contribution towards the fees for study days and workshops organised by PCT Scotland will be considered. Fees for longer courses will not normally be paid.
The fund is not normally available for non-PCT Scotland events. However at the SGM held on 19 November 2005 it was agreed that the scope of the Access Fund would be widened for a trial period (1 January - 31 December 2006). Following a review by the Coordinating Group on 20 January 2007, it has been decided to further extend the trial period until 31 December 2007.
The fund may also be used to assist people with limited finances to join or renew their membership of PCT Scotland.
All members will be invited to contribute to the fund with their yearly subscription. Contributions are entirely voluntary and can be made at any time of the year. This money will be used solely for the Access Fund and will be administered separately from the PCT Scotland general account. Income may be added to the Access Fund from the profits of training events. The annual contribution will be at the discretion of the Co-ordinating Group.
Requests for money from the Access Fund should be made prior to the event in writing to the secretary or treasurer of PCT Scotland. Two members of the Co-ordinating Group can agree amounts of up to £50. Requests for larger amounts will be considered at the next Co-ordinating Group meeting
Trial Widening of the Scope of the Access Fund
At the SGM on 19th November 2005 a discussion took place regarding the use of the Access Fund. Until now this money had been available for PCT Scotland events only. As there are currently fewer PCT Scotland hosted trainings/events it has been proposed that the scope of the Fund should be widened. It was decided that for a trial period the Access Fund will now also be available to members for the following:
- towards the registration cost of attending significant conferences/events, held in the UK by BAPCA, BACP or COSCA
- towards the cost of travelling to the above.
It seemed to us that it was relevant and to the benefit of PCT Scotland members to widen the scope of the Fund to include large events held by these particular organisations. We decided that a trial period should be held to ascertain what the demand is likely to be in relation to the amount of money available in the Fund. Applications will be considered only for events which will take place during the trial period.
The original trial period was 1 January - 31 December 2006. Following a review by the Coordinating Group on 20 January 2007, it has been decided to further extend the trial period until 31 December 2007.
During the trial period, requests for money from the Access Fund towards events that fall into this category should be made, prior to the event, in writing to the secretary or treasurer of PCT Scotland. Two members of the Co-ordinating Group can agree amounts of up to £50. Requests for larger amounts will be considered at the next Co-ordinating Group meeting.
