I am currently unavailable until Monday 28th June, when I will be able to respond to and messages, emails or calls.
Currently I am not able to offer face to face sessions and hope to resume this when it is safe to do so, working within Scottish government guidelines . However I am able to offer counselling and supervision session online or by telephone and have experience and training to offer these platforms.
My name is Lesley Brackenridge and work in private practice at Threads Counselling in Paisley. I am Accredited and Registered Counsellor since 2008 with the BACP-(registration member number 017996) This means I work with and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework in the work and services I provide to clients’ and supervisees’.

Qualifying in 2003, I have over 19 years’ experience as a counsellor in both short and longer-term work and work as a clinical supervisor for other counsellors. My experience in working with a range of issues with an Employee Assistance Provider, as a counsellor, Team Leader and manager and many years working for voluntary agencies (e.g. CRUSE Bereavement Care, Local Counselling Charity & local Hospice) has given me a breadth of knowledge and practical clinical experience to support clients with a wide range of issues and understand the importance of clinical support in supervision. I also have a back ground in general and psychiatric nursing, which I have also found helpful in my clinical work alongside my broad experience with mental health issues; work related issues; relationship issues; crisis and risk; bereavement; childhood issues; trauma and Critical Incident on site support.

In addition to this I have a keen interest in carer issues; long term illness; mental and physical disability; elder care; the impact of a cancer diagnosis on individuals, family & friends; terminal illness and bereavement. How people cope with adversity and develop resilience and the uniqueness of each persons’ journey with this is something that continues to fuel the passion for my work.

In my experience I find issues and challenges do not come in isolation and it is often the cumulative effect of more than one thing in life that can feel overwhelming. However, I do believe that everyone finds their own unique way forward from this and counselling can play an important part in this. I hope that my enthusiasm, genuine interest in making a difference and supporting you through our work will help you find your best way forward.

Although my practice room is not wheelchair accessible I am happy to make arrangements to offer counselling in wheelchair accessible room depending on both our availability. Please do call me to discuss your access needs.
