I am a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I completed my training as a person-centred counsellor in 2006. Since then I have also completed a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University and am now a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, registration number PYL 32061). I work with clients to understand themselves better, find a way forward with their difficulties and increase their sense of wellbeing. I value individual differences and see the collaborative relationship between myself and my clients as central to my therapeutic work. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and offer a warm, supportive and flexible approach. I have trained in several therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. I have worked as a therapist for more than ten years in a variety of settings including primary care, the voluntary sector, higher education and schools-based counselling. I have experience of working with adults, adolescents, individuals and couples. I am happy to work with a wide range of client experiences including, but not limited to, bereavement, sexuality, identity, study-related difficulties, low mood, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, abuse, adjustment to major life events, life-stage transitions, parenting issues, work-related difficulties, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks and living with chronic illness. I have a specialist interest in student counselling and counselling for clients with multiple sclerosis.
