Before training as a Counsellor, I had a long experience of pastoral support roles - student advising and union casework - in a Higher Education setting. I have also experienced the benefit of counselling during a crisis in my own life.

More broadly, I think I have discovered the creative potential of 'real conversation' in many contexts - personal interactions, academic seminars, union negotiations, administrative engagements, and therapeutic relationships.

Sometimes we know we need to talk, long before we know what it is that we need to talk about.

If you would like to meet, I do not charge for an assessment session.

I am a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and completed my Diploma in Person Centred Counselling at the University of Strathclyde in 2001. Over the last 15 years I have built a breadth of experience in working with a wide variety of issues and across a number of different client groups. I worked for many years with students in a university counselling service, and I have also worked in a young peoples’ counselling service and set up a service for young carers. I now run my own private practice based in North Edinburgh, Eh6. I am easily accessible by public transport from the city centre and there is also plentiful free on street parking.

I offer a generic counselling service in the heart of the South Side of Glasgow with good transport links. I started counselling in 1996 when I began working with Breakthrough for Women, a counselling and information project run by Glasgow City Council. Since then, I’ve worked in a busy GP practice in the NHS, at Napiers Herbal Healthcare, with PCT Glasgow, in the Consulting Rooms in the City Centre and elsewhere.

As well as offering a generic counselling service responding to whatever you bring, I also have extensive experience in working with sexual abuse and other forms of trauma.

I have a CQSW from my days in social work and gained a Diploma in Counselling (person-centred) from the University of Strathclyde in 1999. I’m a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I was accredited with that organisation for a number of years but it lapsed when I took a couple of years out to pursue other work. However, I still work to the BACP code of ethics and standards
