I offer a professional, respectful and caring counselling service.

I believe the value of counselling lies in giving yourself time to look at the difficulties or challenges that you are facing and finding your own way to address these; giving you the opportunity for change and increasing your choices.

And so I believe counselling can offer you the opportunity to “know yourself and be yourself” through being able to talk about yourself in a way that is quite different to talking with family or friends.

I will work with you in a way that responds to you as an individual, acknowledging your own values and goals and I will treat you and all that you want to explore with respect and openness.

The majority of my experience has been gained working in a general counselling service helping adults with a wide range of challenging or distressing life experiences, such as lack of confidence, low mood/energy, problematic ways of behaving, relationship problems, major life changes, issues from childhood, work pressures.

I am currently working at the University of Strathclyde Counselling Research Unit and I have a small private practice.

I abide by the BACP* Ethical Framework and Code of Good Practice, which sets out the standards required of a professional counsellor, including regular supervision, continuing professional development and appropriate levels of professional indemnity insurance.

Hello. I am a qualified counsellor working from a person-centred perspective. I believe each of us has the capacity to grow and develop and find our own inner resources to help us cope with life's challenges. I see my task as helping you express and explore what's on your mind to enable you to see things more clearly and gain a better understanding of who you are and what choices or changes, if any, you may wish to make.

Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked as an artist, in restaurants and in charity administration/fundraising. I worked for 10 years as a counsellor in several voluntary sector organisations, and then for several years in a University student counselling service as well as maintaining a small private practice.

In May 2009 I completed a diploma in person centred supervision at Temenos in Sheffield. Since then I have supervised both trainee and experienced counsellors. I offer clinical and academic supervision as well as consultancy for practitioners within other disciplines.

In February 2013 I returned to full time private practice expanding both my client and supervision work. I also work as a group and individual supervisor, and as a personal tutor for University of Edinburgh School of Counseling & Psychotherapy.

I am a person centred counsellor with experience of working with a wide range of issues which include bereavement and loss (including bereavement by murder and suicide), depression, pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal depression, cultural issues, family changes and relationships. In the past I have worked with clients in a primary health care setting, the voluntary sector and specialist agencies and have experience of volunteering over a number of years on a helpline supporting parents and carers of children.

I offer appointments on a Tuesday, Friday and a Saturday morning. I can see clients at premises in the West End of Edinburgh or in EH5. Unfortunately there is no disabled access.
